HARP GUITARS -- 3 NOTE: these photos are thumbnails - click on the photo to see the full size picture. I am beginning the process of binding the body. On the top I use this design to delineate the body from the auxiliary peghead.
Here the binding is taped in place -- lots of masking tape.
The tape is removed and the binding is (mostly) level with the top.
Not done, but getting close. More to come.
At this point both of the harp guitars have binding and one (in the foreground) has been stained.
Here I am scraping the stain off the purfling on the back of the harp guitar. I use a very sharp knife which has a slightly curved blade. By rocking it up or down and using a finger on the side of the guitar as a guide, I can very accurately control the point of the knife and the "edge" of the area being scraped.
